Legal and Financial Basics

This Workshop will provide entrepreneurs with a grounding in legal and financial requirements to
successfully navigate their enterprise. The legal section will provide an overview on issues that arise for
business owners as they get underway from concept to operations, business organizational types,
general intellectual property needs, employment law, contracts, and commercial leases. The accounting
sections covers basic accounting principles rules including the understanding of double-entry accounting
system, how to interpret and prepare basic financial statements (Income Statement/Balance Sheet/Cash
Flow). Also, issues relating to assets, liabilities, revenue and expense recognition, cash flow and internal
controls will be covered.
