By the end of the course, participants will understand the role and fundamentals of Human Resources in a start-up environment. In this comprehensive course participants will learn about the basic areas of Human Resources, how and when to create Human Resources Processes, how to identify and create a culture in your new organization, an overview of the key compliance issues facing small businesses, how to avoid very costly HR pitfalls, all while having fun learning.
This course applies to any organization size or number of employees.
The course is 4 modules, 4-weeks, each 3 hours. Participants must attend ALL class sessions as well as participate in case studies in order to earn the Certificate. Some class will be allocated to case studies, but outside classroom time may be required. Active participation in class to discuss each case study is expected and each student shall be called upon.
Upon completion of the Certificate in the fundamentals of Human Resources, you will learn:

With interesting case studies and team activities, learn how to create the culture you want to achieve. How policies, behaviors, and values influence your company, the people you hire, risk, and employee relations. Recruiting, selecting, hiring and retaining the right people at the right time.
Strategic vs. Operational Human Resources. Learn the difference and when you need to move from one to another.

Silvia Van Dusen, HR Consultant. Silvia Van Dusen, holds a Master’s in Psychology with an emphasis in Industrial Psychology. She has over 15 years of Human Resources experience and has lead large HR organization.
